About us
The history of the Finca El Cabrito is turbulent, the present fascinating.
It stretches from the cultivation of bananas over a communal life experiment to ecological tourism with integrated biological agriculture. This development by no means ran smoothly all the time: After the death of a member of the family who owned the plantation it was given up and left to decay. The commune who restored the place dissolved in 1990 and the bay was very nearly sold.
But a group of idealists were enticed by the magic of this place to turn it into a paradise for holiday-makers and in 1991 the Finca was opened to visitors. The manor-house and the former workers’ dwellings – all superbly renovated – now accommodate guests, a full-board service has been developed, the former banana warehouse has become a dining and recreation area.
The success story is convincing: The Finca in its special, protected position in a valley adjoinung the Atlantic is visited and revisited by holiday-makers who value its qualities – relaxation in the framework of ecological, aesthetic and social aspects.
