The Finca
Over a 100 years ago El Cabrito became a plantation for fruit and vegetables, an extraordinary undertaking since water was a rarity in the South of the island, so the supply of water was a prerequisite. The owners built three large reservoirs in the upper part of the valley (approx. 2hrs on foot) in which water was collected during the winter months and directed into the valley via a wide pipeline.
In 1987 biological agriculture was introduced and with the beginning of the holiday business the production was reorganised in order to supply our guests with produce mostly from El Cabrito. Today we have a shed with 25 goats from whose milk we make fresh cheese all year round. The dung is used as manure.
In 1992 El Cabrito was officially recognised first biological enterprise on La Gomera.
